fashion trend

*removing cobwebs, trying to sweep and mop this place clean (singing it’s been a long long time)*. No vex abeg. Yes i know but i have been busy na. School work and all. Please i cannot come and die but I’ve missed this place so i have decided to rant small. You know i will so stop thanking GOD :@. As we all know that i cannot keep things to myself so ill jst burst out with this? Wassup with the recent fashion trends?
When i was younger, “aunty gimme cake” gowns were the hottest gowns to wear to parties, to church, anywhere. As a little girl, this was like an LBD (little black dress) i.e. A must have for every girl but, in this present time, most girls are even ashamed of their pictures because of the gowns. So why is it that most girls are now wearing the same “aunty gimme cake” only this time its skirts? As if that is not enough they have started wearing rubber slippers. Yes rubber slippers all in the name of doll house slippers and its expensive. I know very well that girls never liked the idea of wearing rubber sandals to primary or secondary schools so what is this recent influx about? price?
To the area I’ve been waiting for. Just yesterday, i saw marc Jacobs, yes the same designer marc Jacobs wearing a gown. Yes i said it a gown. I saw this on fashion police. If you doubt me, check their website to confirm it. At that point i was confused because i felt he should know better. Skiping that part to the part of carrot shaped boys wearing carrot jeans. If you’ve not seen i have seen many of them. Please it is cute on some guys not all so if you look at yourself in the mirror and you fall into this group, please give it out ASAP.
I think i feel a lil bit better now having said this so ill just stop here because now i have to get back to church activities. Yes am in church atm and my father is looking @ me. L8tr

the age issue

Hey u welcome ,

Yeah i know it has been a long time i wrote anything but have you forgotten that this is not supposed to be an “amebo” blog, its just thoughts from my head/mind (pick 1) and I am not a computer or machine  so do not try to get vexed or complain. Capish? Thought as much

Ok so back to the reason for my writing today, i still do not understand why some people in this present century/time/age/dispensation still uses age as a criterion for having/making friends or talking to people. Haven’t u heard the quote that age is just a number? or better still if you do not believe that, don’t you know that one’s age does not determine his/her level of  maturity? Do u want a living example?  Ok ill give u, our dearly beloved Mazi, you know him right? If u don’t, open a twitter account today or ask any friend of yours that is on twitter, if that person doesn’t know who he is, sell that friend or better still abandon him or her for a better one that knows (note: Twitter didnt pay me for publicity). Most old people act their shoe size (yes by shoe size i mean American shoe size…. do u get it now?) and it’s really alarming. What really drew my attention to this fact is the rate at which my I.T mates make a lot of fuss about the age issue. They know the age of every one in their class which is really surprising to me. When i asked they said it’s because they want to know how to answer any one that talks to them anyhow in their class (btw we are not in the same school).

But honestly, I feel it really doesn’t  matter what your age is, what matters is your level of responsibility or better still your personality because as we all know people say “show me your friend and ill tell you who you are” not “tell me your friend’s age ill tell you how you think”.

N.B:  I love my I.T. mates and they know that but seriously I just had to say this. At least I didn’t mention any one’s name.

It’s time for me to eat.  I’ll see or talk or communicate with you another time lets hope sooner than the first time. Feel free to drop your comment and try to nail me if you can.  *evil grin*

my take on government and private universities.

Hello reader,

I am new to the world of blogging so permit my flaws. I am still thinking of a permanent subject for this blog but for now you just have to deal with me and my thoughts.

I think it’s time for us to bury this hatchet between government owned (state & federal) university students and private university students as to which is better and why.

Firstly education is not all about what you learn in class it encompasses a whole lot more like developing oneself, imparting of knowledge gotten from the environment just to name a few; and a university is just a way of getting this at a much higher and theoretical level (in the Nigerian context). Before the public-private partnership, everybody knew that after secondary school you go straight to any government owned university but now you have many options.

The major question now is why do people choose private schools over government owned schools? Without trying to hide behind any cover, Government owned universities have been in existence long before anyone thought about private universities so by default they should have way more experience and even better lecturers than any private university. Looking at it squarely, the idea of creating private universities came at a time when it seemed like the number of students staying at home after secondary school and writing both Waec and jamb examinations were more than the number of students in the universities. Private universities were created with the major idea of creating more schools for students so they do not have to stay at home and wait for a very long time before they are admitted to read courses of their choice or courses given to them by the school.

Going back to the main question as to why people (parents) prefer private universities over government owned universities knowing fully well that they would have to pay more in private universities, the answer is really simple; everyone that makes an investment takes the risk because they know that at the end of the day the profit will be worth it. A parent’s investment is their child. Every parent wants to give their child the best of everything available and as we all know the only inheritance that cannot be collected or taken from someone is the knowledge the person has acquired. In private universities, though the level of teaching experience is not very high, the student and teachers have a close inter personal relationship. A lecturer could take a class of 50 – 200 students which is usually very rare in government owned universities because a lecturer could be given any number of students to lecture which could range to 500 and above. Comparing the two, we can see that it is easier for the lecturer in a private owned university to interact with every student in a class and he/she can teach in such a way that they can all understand because it is easier to detect when the students do not understand.

In the private universities known to me, a prerequisite for graduating is that the student must have a professional certification from their area of study. With this when the student graduates and goes into the labour market, he or she becomes a very tough competitor because with the certification the companies know that they are dealing with professionals and they do not have to pay again to train the person. This also means a high salary for whoever is involved. This certification is not given much attention in government owned universities for reasons best known to them

P.S: I know this post is not conclusive on this matter but it sheds some light on some major differences between the higher institutions. A superior level of argument can always be appreciated because everyone is entitled to their opinion and i hope i am speaking the mind of many.
